Who are we?
The BH-BL Girls Basketball Club is a non-profit organization, established to offer girls grades 2 to 8 residing in the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School District, the opportunity to play basketball. Our entire organization is run by parents of girls in the club in partnership with the school basketball coaches.
No experience needed!
If your daughter is interested in playing basketball, this is the perfect age to play. Every girl has no experience or very little if they have already played a year or two with us. We are not looking for great basketball players. We are looking for great girls we can turn into great basketball players.
Sports are not easy and there is a lot of competition at the older levels. Now, at the elementary and early middle school years, is the best time to try a sport. When girls reach the age to play for the school teams, it’s nearly impossible for players with no experience to make a team. Our program’s purpose is to develop basketball skills at the younger ages to prepare them for the school teams when they are older.
What is the club’s focus?
Our focus is on the players. We want to provide an environment for the girls to enjoy
the game of basketball and help them develop as players. We are not focused on wins and losses in CDGBL games. Everyone likes to win, but it’s not more important than developing the players at this young age. If the players enjoy playing basketball and work with our coaches to develop their skills, the wins will come.
What is the cost?
Spartan Junior recreation basketball camp is typically very low cost and includes a t-shirt!
Being on a CDGBL team cost can vary. For players grades 3 to 6, the anticipated cost is $260 for the entire season. For 7th and 8th graders playing in the junior division, the anticipated cost is $120. The junior division players are also members of the school basketball program. Due to their school team practice schedule, they are not practicing during the week for CDGBL games. They only play in the league games on the weekends. The less gym fees for those junior teams results in a lower season cost.
Overall, the season fees are very low when it covers:
- warm-up shirt with name
- practice jersey
- gym fees to 2 practices a week for 4 months, and 7-8 home games
- Referee fees for 7-8 home games
- insurance fee
If you are a new player or returning player needing a new uniform, they cost is around $25 for the jersey and $18 for the shorts. The uniform is yours to keep.
